What does Rigging mean?
Rigging is the process of safely hanging equipment from the ceiling, done by highly trained professionals known as riggers.
What decor elements can be rigged?
Lighting Fixtures and Electric or Floral/Fabric Ceiling Treatments, such as Chandeliers
When does an event need rigging?
Most couples consider rigging when they want to play with the venue space and architecture in a ballroom. Such decor elements create a multi-dimensional ambiance.
You should consider rigging when:
You’re looking to create something unexpected
You want to evoke a sense of movement.
You have a playful and/or sophisticated sense of style
You’re seeking to turn the ordinary into extraordinary.
You value creativity.
You want to make a design statement.
Why is rigging so complicated?
When you attend an event, decor hung from the ceiling looks like something anyone can climb up a ladder to do, but the process to get it hung safely is very complex. The process involves understanding the size and weight of the structure as well as the time needed to assemble and dismantle the structure.
What is the value of rigging?
Rigging costs are determined by the venue’s Audio/Visual team. There are a variety of factors that go into determining the cost, including the weight of the decor element being hung, number of motors and truss required to carry the weight, and, most importantly, the labor (riggers) needed. On average, rigging costs for Floral Chandeliers seen in parts of our designs can range between $6-10K.
Can all venues/hotels support rigging?
Not all venues/hotels support rigging. However, there are alternative options to rigging, such as using ground support systems.
